The Art of Totoro Dust Jacket Concept
graphic design
packaging design
For my Type and Letter Making class, we were tasked with creating a dust jacket for any book. The only constraint of this project was that our title needed to be a font that we created ourselves. I decided to make a dust jacket for The Art of Totoro, a collection of concept sketches, paintings, and more from the Hayao Miyzaki film My Neighbor Totoro. I wanted my dust jacket to be very illustrated, giving hints to the contents of the book. For the title, I wanted it to stylistically match the shapes and forms of the illustrations so it seamlessly blends. Ultimately, I wanted to create a dust jacket that was fun and playful, and something that anyone would love to have sitting on their coffee table.
