SALAD DAYS
type design
When deciding on what kind of font I wanted to create for my Type and Lettermaking class, I came across the phrase "Salad Days". In short, the Salad Days of life are the days of our youth that were full of carefree innocence. Thus, I decided to create a font that represented exactly that.
Creating this font consisted of reminiscing on my youth, specifically thinking back on the times in which I was first learning how to write. I wanted my font to mimic the basic pen strokes one makes when making letters for the first time. I wanted it to feel messy, to look goofy, but still be legible. Through many rounds of feedback and critique, I was able to develop an entire font using both Illustrator and Glyphs.
