In summer of 2020, we saw a massive surge of activism online in the wake of Black Lives Matter protests, particularly on Instagram. People began sharing educational infographics and carousel graphics, with hopes of mobilizing people to take action and help create meaningful change.

Today, Instagram activism serves as an important tool for educating wide audiences on a wide variety of issues in the form of infographics and carousel posts. These posts are valuable, as they serve as an educational tool and launchpad for people to take action.

What is #design4progress?

#design4progress is a website that helps Instagram activists make their posts clearer, more credible, more accessible, and more instructive, so they can guide more of their followers to take concrete action. The website houses multiple free lessons and lists of free resources, software, and tools that will help activists develop more effective campaigns.

This website seeks to tackle concerns of accessibility and the spread misinformation and misrepresentation with Instagram activism graphics.

Why is this important?

The design4progress website directly tackles the concerns associated with Instagram activism by providing lessons on how to combat issues of accessibility, and concerns of the spread of misinformation and misrepresentation.

In following the lessons provided by design4progress, activists would help reshape the Instagram activism environment into something that is much more reliable and credible.
